RESUMO:

Gypsum is a material widely used by many industries, ranging from cement to dental and orthopedic implants. The search for the technical and economic feasibility of recycling its waste, as well as new mineral sources that are capable of alleviating the intense exploitation of the soil resulting from this activity, has become increasingly important, since the environmental degradation caused by the mining of gypsum, the deforestation of native forests to supply the energy demand, associated to the air pollution originated from the burning of the wood during the calcination process, makes it even more evident the need to have changes in this productive chair, aiming at the reduction of impacts caused by the mining and production of gypsum. In the academic world, more and more, research has turned to the preparation of routes for the recycling of gypsum or even production from alternative sources of gypsum. The reversibility of the process of hydration of the gypsum (recalcination) makes it possible to recycle it so that it can be reinserted into the production chain in addition to or replacement of the first cycle plaster. Simultaneously, the feasibility of the use of tailings from other industries to obtain gypsum is also evaluated, among which the carago, generated in one of the stages of sea salt production, and phosphogypsum from the fertilizer industry stand out. The carago is the by-product generated after the passage of sea water through the settling tanks and then by the evaporators, when the water reaches a degree of salinity between 17 and 19, the calcium sulfate is formed. Calcium sulphate resulting from the process of evaporation of sea water is currently the source of research that will turn it into gypsum. In this sense, this work aims to evaluate the feasibility of incorporation of recycled gypsum, produced by the calcination process of the hydrated gypsum, the salgesso, produced from autoclave calcination of the carago, to the commercial beta gypsum powder in the application in construction coatings civil. For this purpose, a total of 10 different formulations were analyzed in which only the percentages of each of the three analyzed powders were determined and the gypsum water factor (FAG) was determined as well as the preliminary steps to obtain the inputs. The results show that although there is a divergence between the results obtained, a good part of the normative requirements were met, pointing to the possibility of using these inputs as masonry coatings.
