RESUMO:

Some residues from any kinds of activities can be reused so that the effect those impacts is decreased. The residues classified as lignocelluloses biomass can be converted to chemicals and fuels through the fast pyrolysis giving bio-oil as main product. This product usually shows some undesirable characteristics which are related to the biomass source and that lower its energetic efficiency. Using catalysts allows the reduction of those unwanted products and improves the final quality of the bio-oil. Thus, in the present thesis, ZSM-5 and HZSM-5 catalysts were synthesized using residues from granite powder. Glass powder diatomite and rice-husk ash as alternative sources of silica and aluminum; it was also synthesized a catalyst using a conventional silica and aluminum source as a standard. The goal of synthesizing those materials is to use them on the catalytic pyrolysis of the coconut fyber and to analyze the generated products. The used biomass was characterized through immediate constituent analysis (moist, ash, volatile and fixed carbon), specific density, elemental analysis, cellulose, hemicelulose and lignin percentage, calorific power, thermal analysis (TG/DTG), XRD, FT-IR and FRX in order to analyze its energetic potential. The silica and aluminum precursors were also put under FRX and XRD to see the behavior of the used materials. The catalysts were synthesized through the hidrothermic method and characterized by TG/DTG, XRD, FT-IR, SEM and BET. It was shown that the catalysts synthesized as alternative sources have ZSM-5/ HZSM-5-like characteristics and can be applied as catalysts on the coconut fyber pyrolisis.
