RESUMO:

Recycling of waste is fundamental for the preservation, conservation and reduction of the consumption
of non-renewable natural resources of the planet, as it satisfies the needs of the population without
compromising the survival of future generations and also of the planet itself. In this research for solutions
 that minimize aggression to the environment, the construction sector stands out, which, being a
 technological component of a large volume of natural resources, presents great potential for the use
 of solid waste in construction materials. Sewage treatment stations (ETEs) generate in their operation
 a residue rich in nutrients and organic matter with high potential for environmental contamination.
 The ceramic industry also generates a residue of the ceramic block called chamote that causes a 
negative impact if disposed in landfills, dumps or roads. The present work aims to inert the sludge 
produced by the sewage treatment station of the UFRN using chamote incorporating them into
 masses for the manufacture of structural ceramic products. Test specimens will be formulated 
with different percentages of sludge and chamote with different firing temperatures. The materials will be
 characterized by analysis of chemical composition by FRX, mineralogical analysis by XRD and through
the plasticity index. The specimens will be submitted to physical-mechanical tests through measurements 
of water absorption, linear retraction, apparent specific mass, apparent porosity and bending rupture stress.
