RESUMO:

The pollution caused by industries in general is a theme increasingly worrying day. The textile industry is a major cause of environmental damage. The effluents from the industry bring with them a huge amount of pollution load, among them are the dyes that color adheres to textile substrates. With that concern you have with the environment it is increasingly notorious brought about by the lack of care with it, causing irreversible damage. In this context, this paper aims to study and analyze the adsorption capacity of chitosan front of an aqueous solution of reactive dye used in the textile industry, in order to verify the adsorption ratio by the pH of the system, as well as the dependence of the amount of mass of adsorbent in relation adsorption. Therefore both the adsorbent and the adsorbate was analyzed by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), to verify the chemical composition of the material; X-ray diffraction (XRD) to verify the phases formed; infrared spectroscopy to determine functional groups; Thermal analysis to verify the thermal stability of the materials; and microscopy (SEM) to verify the morphology of the material; and analyzed chitosan saturation time in relation to the dye. As a result, it was found that chitosan is quite effective for adsorbing the dye in the study. In just 90 minutes, the pH 6, and saturated chitosan adsorbed 97.73% of the dye contained in the solution. The adsorption is more efficient to more acidic pH values and the saturation time obtained, the desired adsorbent mass is above 0.1g.
