SUMMARY:

Introduction: It is estimated that there are approximately 785 million people with some type of deficiency globally, representing 15.6% of the world's population, about 1.2% of the population, have intellectual disability. This deficiency is characterized by significant limitations on intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior. All these limitations have an important impact on autonomy and independence, requiring the constant presence of a caregiver who has an important role in assisting these people in daily activities. Studies have shown important implications for caregiver's health and quality of life, with the most frequent physical and emotional symptoms such as anxiety, stress, emotional state change, cardiovascular problems, reduction or increased body weight and spinal problems. In this sense, the objective of this study is to analyze what is the effect of exercises on quality of life and the effective overload of caregivers of people with intellectual disabilities?

Methods: This is a systematic review protocol that will follow the Cochrane collaboration guidelines and the main items to report systematic revisions and meta-analysis protocols (Prisma-P). The protocol was registered in the Prospective International Registration of Systematic Reviews (prosperous), registration number: CRD42022339145. Study searches will be conducted at the following databases: Medline, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, Bireme, SportDiscus and Google Scholar (advanced). The search strategy will be composed of key terms and words based on health descriptors (Desc) and medical subject headings (mesh). The eligibility criteria will be: randomized and quasi-randomized controlled tests, with the participation of adult caregivers of people with intellectual disabilities of both sexes without language restriction and year. Types of interventions studies that include interventions with exercise (eg aerobic exercise, resistance exercises and multicomponent exercise program, pilates, yoga, etc.). All studies included must have been analyzed within 4 weeks of intervention, with any frequency and intensity. The following outcomes will be analyzed: quality of life, effective overload, adverse events and adhesion.

Expected results: It is expected by planning this systematic review to understand what types of exercises, protocols and characteristics have effects on the outcomes on caregivers' health. And consequently assist in the process of care and attention to this audience.
