RESUMO:

INTRODUCTION: Although the benefits of physical activity are well evidenced, a large number of the world population does not meet the minimum amount of physical activity recommended by ACSM. The commonly used training protocols are largely applied in controlled laboratory settings, focusing on attending small groups in person, with little applicability to population groups. In this way, this study aims to disseminate training strategies carried out in open air environments that allow greater reach of people, using protocols and instruments that are accessible, effective and safe, and that match the reality of the population. OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect of continuous training of moderate intensity, high intensity interval training and self-selected intensity training on cardiometabolic health, psychophysiological responses and adherence in overweight individuals. METHODS: The population was composed of subjects of both sexes, sedentary, aged between 18-45 years, body mass index between 25.0-34.9 Kg.m-2. Cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, subjective perception of exertion (Borg 6-20), affection and adherence were evaluated. The intervention consisted of four weeks of training with supervised supervision and eight weeks with semi-supervised follow-up, with weekly frequency of three days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Volunteers are being randomly divided into three groups, continuous moderate intensity training, high intensity interval training, and self-selected intensity training. In all training protocols, exercise intensity was controlled using PSE. In Continuous Moderate Training, participants were instructed to perform the exercise at a PSE 13 intensity for 30 minutes. In the Interval Training of High Intensity, subjects performed ten stimuli of 60 seconds in PSE of 15-17, interspersed with 60 seconds of active recovery (walking). The Self-selected Intensity Training group was instructed to select the intensity using the following instruction: "Select a speed (exercise intensity) to perform 30 minutes of exercise". The heating and the calm return is carried out in PSE 9.
