RESUMO:

In the circumstance that western society has seen the aging, it is perceived that this phase of life is expected and avoided in a negative way, or it is often to ignore. This study aims to reflect on the ways of perceiving the old during the experiences of the project for sports and leisure, called Our City Healthier, which occurs in the city of Natal-RN. In this way, in prontificamos to identify the understandings of old age and the aging of these people from their experiences. We used the phenomenological understanding of body as existential condition of being and seek to relate the concepts and intertwining the understanding of the aged body with the notion of a body that lives and feels, and that must be seen beyond a body endowed with organic bankruptcies. We used the phenomenological method to develop the research. Using the method of the situated phenomenon, we turn to the place where the phenomenon is lived and where he could be studied by us. The meeting of the phenomenon, we observed the lived world of persons present there and, through the reduction and the description, we contemplate some results: realized the need to understand the old being in addition to the negative attitudes that act on this body. We understand that the body of old is not a stage in which it is your need to experience, but that remains developing from these experiences. We realized that the aging does not happen out of life, but remains as a continuation of this, and should not be treated in a negative way and stereotyping. The aged body need, first of all, be seen as a possibility of preview, one that creates and experience as much as in other phases of life. In this sense, sees the need for expansion of the studies in large area of Physical Education, in such a way that allows the aged body is perceived within their limitations and also within their possibilities.
