Introduction: Exercise is a key strategy in treatment of obesity promoting increased caloric deficit. Recent evidence suggests higher exercise intensity can induce physiological changes decreasing appetite, contributing to reduced caloric intake, however, this mechanism is not clear in obese individuals. Objective:Compare the acute effects of high-intensity interval exercise (EIAI) and moderate-intensity continuous (ECMI) on appetite indicators (subjective perception of hunger and satiety, ad libitum intake one hour after session, food intake 24hrs after session and appetite related hormones) in obese men.Methods: Research was characterized as a randomized clinical trial in crossover design. Actually, nine subjects (age: 27.8 ± 1.6 years, weight: 106.6 ± 16.9 years, height: 173.5 ± 5cm, BMI: 35.3 ± 4.8 kg / m², body fat: 39.6 ± 2.1%, Peak speed: 12.1 ± 1.1 km / h), underwent three experimental sessions interspersed by seven days apart: I) EIAI (10x 1 min at 90% peak speed + 1 min at 60% peak speed), II) ECMI (20min at 60% peak speed) and iii) control. A body weight standardized meal was offered 45 min before each experimental session. The subjective perception of hunger and satiety were assessed in three time points: pre-exercise, immediately post-exercise and 1h post-exercise. To analyze the food intake one hour after each session, were offered a standardized ad libitum meal. Food intake 24hrs following session was evaluated using a daily food record 24hrs (R24). Results: There were no significant differences in subjective perception of hunger and fullness immediately after exercise (p = 0.088; p = 0.666, respectively) and one hour after (p = 0.757; p = 0.859, respectively), as well as the meal ad libitum (p = 0.937) and food intake 24hrs (p = 0.695). Conclusion: Different exercise intensities, as well as the control situation, promoted similar responses on food intake in obese individuals assessed actually. Biochemical analyzes will be important to clarify the appetite mechanisms after exercise sessions.
