The aikido and the care of the self: contributions to Physical Education

The objective of this research is to reflect about the elements of care of the self in the philosophy of aikido, to identify contributions to physical education. This is a qualitative research hermeneutics approach that focuses on the following works: Morihei Ueshiba (2002, 2006, 2010), Kisshomaru Ueshiba (2005, 2011), Moriteru Ueshiba (2008) and especially Foucault, 2010, 2013). The first chapter presents the elements of the creation of aikido, the philosophical context of the founder and the philosophical precepts of this practice. The second chapter deals with the conceptual and philosophical context of care of the self. In the third, approximations are woven between elements of care of the self and aikido. Finally are listed points that relate to the contributions of this study to Physical Education.
