Evaluation of Tuberculosis Control Measures in the Prison System of the State of Rio Grande do Norte.

Introduction: People deprived of their freedom are 34 times more likely to
acquire tuberculosis compared to the general population. In this sense, the
application of health actions, based on scientific evidence, to control the
disease in this scenario is necessary.Objective: This study aims to evaluate
tuberculosis control measures in Prison Units in the State of Rio Grande do
Norte. Method: This is an evaluative study of a normative type with a
quantitative approach based on standards and criteria and an evaluative
research with a qualitative approach from a multiple case study perspective.
The place of investigation will be all Prison Units in the State of Rio Grande do
Norte, under state administration. The population that will take part in the
research will be: Prison Health Teams made up of doctors, nurses, nursing
technicians, dentists, psychologists and social workers; tuberculosis
coordinators from each Municipality that has Prison Units, criminal security
agents and individuals deprived of liberty. For data collection, the questionnaire
prepared by researchers and technicians who work in the area of tuberculosis,
both at the Ministry of Health level and at Public Universities in Brazil, will be
used, using as a reference the Tuberculosis Control Manual in Brazil that
provide elements for constructing indicators. The normative assessment data
will be organized and processed in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences
SPSS Statistics® version 22.0 software. For the multiple case study, it will be
analyzed from the perspective of data triangulation. All ethical precepts will be
respected in accordance with the Research Regulatory Guidelines and Norms,
which appear in Resolution no. 466/12 of the National Health Council of the
Ministry of Health. It is expected to understand the context from the perspective
of the implementation and implementation of tuberculosis control actions with
such investigation.
