SUMMARY:

Adherence to pharmacological treatment is an essential component for the effectiveness and success of treatment in various health conditions. In the specific context of post-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), adherence to pharmacological treatment plays a crucial role in preventing and treating complications. Patients undergoing this transplant face significant challenges and lack of compliance can have serious consequences, including the development of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and graft failure. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the adherence profile to pharmacological treatment among post-HSCT patients. A cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, will be carried out in a reference hospital for HSCT in the state of Rio Grande Norte between the months of January and October 2024. Three questionnaires will be applied, one for sociodemographic and clinical characterization, the Measure of Adherence to Treatments and the Pharmacotherapy Complexity Index. In compliance with Resolution 466/2012, which defines the guidelines and regulatory standards for research involving human beings, this project was submitted for analysis by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, obtaining approval under opinion 6.599.477 and CAAE: 76470723.9.0000.5537. This study is expected to provide a more comprehensive understanding of adherence to pharmacological treatment after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, identifying factors that may influence it. This information has the potential to guide intervention strategies and improve adherence management, improving quality of life and treatment outcomes for patients. Furthermore, it is expected that this study will fill a gap in the literature and stimulate future investigations in this area in Brazil.
