FUNCTION: CASE-CONTROL STUDY.

SUMMARY:

Cardiovascular diseases are the main non-communicable chronic diseases and have
high mortality rates in the world. In Brazil, cardiovascular diseases are also the main
cause of death, in which diseases of the circulatory system were responsible for
approximately three and a half million deaths. The risk factors associated with its
development are divided into modifiable and non-modifiable behavioral ones. Among
the non-modifiable risk factors are heredity, age and sex. The modifiable risk factors
are related to overweight, high blood glucose levels, high blood pressure and
hyperlipidemia. Thus, the recognition of risk factors that affect cardiovascular
functions becomes essential, as it allows the prevention of complications in target
organs, such as the kidneys and heart. Therefore, the present study aims to clinically
validate the nursing diagnosis Risk for impaired cardiovascular function in users of
primary health care. This is a retrospective, case-control study. The research will be
carried out in primary care units in the municipal network of Natal, capital of the state
of Rio Grande do Norte. Thus, the drawn units will represent the North I and North II
District, the South District, the East District and the West District. The study
population will be made up of users registered in the selected health units, who are
in the unit on the day of collection. 88 individuals will be included (44 cases and 44
controls). For data collection, an instrument will be built in which the first part will be
directed to the collection of sociodemographic and clinical data of the user and the
second will contain the risk factors, populations at risk and conditions associated
with the nursing diagnosis Risk for impaired cardiovascular function . In compliance
with Resolution 466/2012, which defines the guidelines and regulatory norms for
research involving human beings, this project will be submitted for analysis by the
Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, and
will only be started after a favorable opinion. It should be noted that this research will
provide indirect benefits for the participants, as it will increase knowledge about the
predictive factors for impaired cardiovascular function in users of primary health
care. Thus, based on the results obtained, actions/interventions can be developed to
reduce the risks among these individuals and promote a healthier lifestyle.
