Development and Validation of a Tool for Implementing Peer
Education on HIV Prevention among Adolescents.
Peer education.Adolescent.Nursing.HIV.Validation study.
The shift in the age profile of HIV cases and the increase in incidence rates of virus
infection among adolescents suggest the presence of vulnerabilities in the preventive
aspect. As a refined methodology of health education, Peer Education enables collective
interventions with individual reach, fostering significant changes for this scenario. This
study aims to construct and validate an instrument for the implementation of peer
education in HIV prevention among adolescents. This is a methodological study that
will be structured according to the model proposed by the psychometric framework of
Pasquali et al. (2010), adapted and organized into theoretical, empirical, and analytical
procedures. The first stage, theoretical procedures, involves the conceptual and
theoretical foundation of the instrument, which will unfold in three moments: scope
review, content mapping, and item construction. The Combined Prevention Mandala
will underpin and guide all theoretical stages. Empirical procedures are centered on data
collection and will encompass the selection of judges and the use of the Delphi
Technique for content validation through the analysis of instrument items. Finally, the
Content Validation Coefficient (CVC), as proposed by Hernandez Nieto (2002), will be
employed to measure judges' agreement on the instrument and its items. Following
authorization from the involved institutions, the project will be submitted to the
Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in
accordance with the provisions of Resolution no. 466/2012 from the National Health
Council of the Ministry of Health, which governs research involving human subjects.
