Lifestyle is a modifiable and determining factor to prevent illness. Due to the

group for the development of sedentary behavior. Thus, the present study aims to
validate the nursing diagnosis Sedentary Lifestyle in university students. This is a
nursing diagnosis validation study, to be developed in two stages, namely: content
analysis of the referred diagnosis, proposed from a medium-range theory developed in a
previous study; and clinical validation. The first stage was already held during the first
half of 2023 with 48 judges. The judges were categorized into levels of expertise. For
statistical analysis, the CVI was calculated using the Wilcoxon test, with a significance
level of 5% and a confidence interval of 95%, p-value >0.05 was also adopted to verify
the adequacy of the contents judged. In the second, a cross-sectional diagnostic
accuracy study will be carried out in the second half of 2023. The study will be carried
out with 120 students enrolled in the undergraduate Nursing course at the Federal
University of Rio Grande do Norte. To carry out the data collection, an instrument
containing the content analyzed in the previous stage of the research will be used.
Numerical sociodemographic and clinical data will be listed by mean, standard
deviation, median, minimum, and maximum. For categorical variables, relative and
absolute frequencies will be recorded. To establish the sensitivity and specificity
measures of the Sedentary Lifestyle nursing diagnosis, the latent class model with
random effects will be applied. And the relationships between related factors and the
diagnosis through posterior probabilities. The study was approved by the Research
Ethics Committee, under opinion 4,953,282 and Certificate of Presentation for Ethical
Appreciation nº 48202221.6.0000.5537. Results to date have identified four defining
characteristics, eight related factors, four risk populations, and one associated condition.
It is concluded, in relation to the second stage, the elements of the referred diagnosis
were considered valid, through the analysis of the judges. Subsequently, the clinical
validation of the same will be carried out.
