BIG AREA: Ciências da Saúde
AREA: Enfermagem
SUMMARY:

Introduction: Among the playful interventions proposed for the child in the reality of hospitalization, the Therapeutic Play (BT) stands out, which can be classified in three types: dramatic; enabling physiological functions, and instructional. The BT Instructional (BTI) is intended to clarify and train the child/family about hospitalization and the therapy involved in it. Objective: To understand the meaning of the use of instructional therapeutic play as a care strategy applied to hospitalized children in use of invasive devices. Methods: Exploratory-descriptive study of qualitative approach through multiple case studies, supported by the philosophical concept of play according to Winnicott and Heidegger's Interpretative Phenomenology. It will be carried out in a university hospital in a northeastern Brazilian capital, in three phases: 1) data collection from medical records; 2) intervention with Therapeutic Instructional Play, and 3) semi-structured interviews. The sample will be non-probabilistic, with the participants being children between six and ten years old hospitalized in the pediatric ward of the aforementioned hospital using invasive devices. The interview will be video and audio recorded by electronic media and transcribed in full. The convenience sampling criterion will be adopted, and the criterion used for the interruption of the BTI sessions will be that of theoretical data saturation. The data will be analyzed using Bardin's thematic analysis associated with the Atlas.ti 9.0® software to support data categorization. The current Brazilian ethical norms for research with human beings will be followed. Expected results: To insert the use of the therapeutic toy technology in order to instruct nursing care, as well as to encourage the child to be the protagonist of care along with his/her family.
