SUMMARY:

Assistance planned and executed through tools, such as flowcharts and documents such as the
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), causes transformations not only in the reorganization of
health services, but also allows professionals to have a critical and reflective analysis of the
assistance provided, in order to effectively contribute to the construction of norms and
standardized routines in the institutions. In addition, instruments such as these contribute to
the training and qualification of health professionals who work in certain contexts, such as
autologous outpatient Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), as it is a complex
procedure for dealing with immunocompromised patients who require specialized and highly
competent care plans, in order to minimize the emergence of complications that affect the
continuity of treatment, survival time and risk of death. In view of this, the present study aims
to develop a flowchart and a SOP to systematize nursing care for patients undergoing
ambulatory autologous HSCT. It is a methodological study with a mixed approach, based on
Pasquali's psychometry, organized into three procedures: theoretical, empirical and analytical.
For the theoretical procedures, searches were carried out in the literature through a Scoping
Review, which had as a sample eight studies that mapped nursing care to patients undergoing
ambulatory autologous HSCT in the phases: pre-HSCT, related to Stem Cell conditioning
Hematopoietics (HSC), chemotherapy infusion, mobilization and collection of HSC; on Day
Zero, with clarifications on the procedure, thawing of the bag and HSC infusion, monitoring
of adverse reactions related to the preservative based on dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and
guidance on mucositis and febrile neutropenia; and Post-HSCT, with discharge guidelines,
home care and medication. A focus group was also carried out with the nursing team working
at Hospital Dia, with the participation of four nurses and two nursing technicians, carried out
remotely via Google Meet. The present research protocol was submitted to the Research
Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and obtained an approval
opinion under CAAE: 58796722.8.0000.5537. According to the nursing team, assistance in
the pre-HSCT phase includes care with the central venous catheter, administration of
prophylactic drugs and chemotherapy, performance in HSC conditioning and mobilization,
and collection of cells by apheresis. On Day Zero, the infusion of HSC by the nurse,
surveillance of adverse reactions related to DMSO and the offer of popsicles to relieve
pharyngeal discomfort were mentioned. And, in Post-HSCT, they highlighted the guidelines
related to the prevention of febrile neutropenia, home care, with medications and scheduling
of outpatient returns. For the empirical procedures, the reference by Pasquali et al. (2010) and
the Suitability Assessment of Materials. In addition, the validation stage will count on the
participation of expert judges in the subject of this study, researched through the Lattes
Platform and selected by applying Fehring's criteria (1994). Finally, the analytical procedures
will be carried out with the application of the Dephi technique, to be performed as many times
as necessary, until reaching 80% agreement between the judges.
