SUMMARY:

Making an ostomy has repercussions on an individual's life, which go beyond physiological changes. Self-care is one of the main challenges for this population, since the presence of a stoma demands new care with the body. Applications are tools that can be used in health education for people with ostomies in teaching self-care, especially given the current reach of mobile devices, which allow access to information in any environment. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of a mobile application in the self-care of people with intestinal ostomies, in order to validate the high-fidelity prototype with professional nurses and people with intestinal ostomies, implement it in a mobile multimedia platform and verify its effectiveness. effectiveness in the self-care of this population. This is an intervention study in the area of technological, methodological and longitudinal innovation that will be carried out from September 2022 to December 2023. The study will be carried out in two stages: the first of validation with the judges, which will take place via the platform Google Forms and validation with patients (people with intestinal ostomies) at the Child and Adult Rehabilitation Center in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte; and the second stage, an intervention study, which will also take place at the Rehabilitation Center. The first stage will be carried out with 9 judges, according to Fehring's criteria, who will be recruited via the Lattes platform, plus 10 people with ostomies recruited, for convenience, at the Rehabilitation Center. In the second stage, the sample will consist of 102 participants, 51 in each group, who will be randomly distributed, by means of a draw, to the control group, which will use conventional self-care guidelines, and the intervention group, which will receive in addition to the conventional guidelines, access to the application on self-care. The follow-up of the participants will take place for a period of five months, with the application of the instruments at the time of consent at the institution and at 1, 3 and 5 months, via telephone calls, which will also be carried out for the follow-up. The study will comply with the requirements for research involving human beings and has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, receiving favorable opinion no 5.393.947, CAAE: 57847722.8.0000.5537.
