SUMMARY:

The life expectancy of the population has increased considerably in recent years, but that does not mean that people live healthier. This phenomenon requires a transformation of health systems along curative models for the provision of comprehensive care centered on the elderly. This requires more specialized care from nurses in the care of the home person with a view to healthy aging. In their work process, there is availability of the Nursing Process, which must be based on a theoretical support. However, the need for specific theoretical training for gerontological nursing care, based on the values and concepts of the discipline, and education educator favors the potential of a medium-range theory in this context. Thus, the objective of this is to develop an average study theory for nursing care in promoting healthy aging based on Roy's adaptation model. It is a study of the theoretical type, on the development of a theoretical theory. The Roy Adaptation Model will be a basis for the development of the theory and will be adopted as a strategy for the construction of proposals by Walker and Avant (2019). A concept analysis strategy was chosen to present the concepts, the related statements by the statement synthesis and a theory derivation strategy to carry out the theoretical translation. The operationalization of the research is stable in stages, namely: 1st stage – Scope Review, 2nd stage – Concept analysis, 3rd stage – Synthesis of stage four and 4th – Structuring the theory. It is believed that the theory of the construction of a nursing environment to achieve nursing care in the promotion of healthy aging will contribute to the theoretical basis of the practice of care for the elderly, in addition to contributing to the maintenance of capacity, functionality and the healthy aging of this population.
