Preparation of podcast as an educational tool for people with ostomies: a validation study

SUMMARY:

Patients with ostomies are those undergoing a surgical procedure whose objective is to externalize a part of the digestive, respiratory or urinary system, through an artificial opening that allows the communication of the internal organ with the external environment for the maintenance of life. To help address this situation, the Ministry of Health published Ordinance GM/SAS/MS Nº 400/2009 providing the National Guidelines for Health Care for People with Ostomy within the Unified Health System (SUS). Among the attributions, it defines that the health care of people with a stoma is composed of health education actions. Podcasts are digital audio files available on internet platforms whose objective is the transmission of information, and when well applied, they can be considered an innovative alternative for educational practice. Thus, the present study aims to create and validate an educational podcast for patients with intestinal ostomies. This is a methodological study that will be divided into four stages: (1) Analysis of podcast productions; (2) Construction of the educational podcast; (3) Validation of podcast content; and (4) Recording and publishing the podcast. Data analysis will be in relation to the validation of the content of the construct by the expert judges who will issue an opinion on the representativeness of the topic addressed, ease of understanding, format and suitability of the material. Thus, the item and the instrument as a whole must present content validation with the application of the Kappa Index (K) to measure the level of agreement and consistency between the evaluators in relation to the permanence or not of the instrument items, as an acceptance criterion, an agreement greater than 0.61 between the judges' answers will be established. The Content Validity Index (CVI) will also be used and will be calculated by dividing the number of judges who rated the item as having a score of “extreme relevance” or “relevant” by the total number of judges, resulting in the proportion of judges who judged the valid item. A minimum satisfactory index of 0.80 will be considered both for the evaluation of each item and for the general evaluation of the instrument. The data will be organized in spreadsheets with the aid of the Microsoft Office Excel® program and the analytical procedures will be developed through statistical tests using the SPSS statistical software (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version 20.0, and the results will be presented in the format of tables and tables. After the content validation and adequacy stage, the Podcast will be recorded and made available for free on digital online music platforms, being a contribution to the continuity of health guidelines for this population.
