SUMMARY:

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) represent a public health problem worldwide, due to the high rate of new infections, they are responsible for causing health and socioeconomic impacts (AMORIM et al, 2021). The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that more than 370 million new STI cases are reported annually worldwide, with syphilis being responsible for a significant percentage of these cases, approximately 11 million new cases, of which about 2 million are from Syphilis in Pregnant Women (SG) (AMORIM et al, 2021; WHO, 2019). The Northeast region ranks second in the ranking of regions with the highest number of cases of GS in the country, only in 2019 it recorded 13,026 cases, of which 905 occurred in Rio Grande do Norte (SOARES et al, 2020). In this sense, it is extremely important to know the spatial distribution of SG cases in the state of RN. The objective of the present study is to carry out the spatio-temporal distribution of GS cases in the state of RN over a period of ten years, during the period from 2010 to 2019, as well as to trace the epidemiological profile of the diagnosed pregnant women. This is an ecological and descriptive study with a quantitative approach, which will use data from the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). Clinical and sociodemographic variables of pregnant women will be analyzed using descriptive statistics (absolute and relative frequency). The Chi-Square test will be used to verify the existence of an association between the categorical variables, for which a statistical significance of 5% (p<0.05) will be admitted. The incidence rate will be calculated each year from data obtained through the number of confirmed cases in each municipality during the years 2010 to 2019 divided by the number of the population of the municipality in the same year multiplied by 10,000 inhabitants. To assess the existence of spatial correlation of the incidence rate, the global Moran index calculated in the Terraview 4.2.2 software will be used, which will generate an index value. when the objective is to analyze areas of greater vulnerability that contribute to the existence of spatial autocorrelation, local autocorrelation measures should be used, such as Moran's local statistics (Local Index of Spacial Association - LISA), represented by the Box Map. results obtained through the Moran and LISA scattering graph, thematic maps of the LISA Map and Moran Map type will be constructed. The study will use secondary data, made available by DATASUS, and will follow all ethical precepts in accordance with Resolution 466/2012, as these are secondary, non-nominal data, consideration by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (CEP/UFRN) will not be necessary.
