SUMMARY:

The Expert Patient is an individual protagonist in his self-management of care, as well as a multiplier / facilitator of effective and safe activities in health services, especially with regard to Primary Health Care, due to being configured in the gateway into the health care network and have a significant number of programs / activities that directly involve the patient. However, it is necessary that health professionals in Primary Health Care, especially nurses, know and understand ways to facilitate the formation of this patient profile. Among the existing tools, there is the clinical simulation, which has multiple scenarios and adaptable to each context. Therefore, the guiding question of this study is: how should the simulation scenarios be structured to support the training of Expert Patients by nursing professionals in Primary Health Care? And, it aims to evaluate the effectiveness of simulation scenarios for the training of nurses in Primary Health Care from the perspective of the Expert Patient. It is a quasi-experimental study of the before-after type and with a quantitative approach, which will seek to build, validate and evaluate the effectiveness of simulation scenarios for the training of nurses in Primary Health Care from the perspective of the Expert Patient. In the stage of construction and validation of the scenarios, the theoretical, empirical and analytical procedures proposed by Pasquali will follow. For the assessment of effectiveness, the study will count on the participation of nurses from Basic Health Units in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, who will be segregated into a control and experiment group, both will participate in teaching actions, but with distinct interventions. Data collection will be carried out through the application of the multiple choice test for both groups and the adaptation of the Student Satisfaction Scale and Self-confidence in Learning from the simulation scenarios, only for the experiment group. The information obtained through the applied instruments will be tabulated in the Statistical Package for Social Science for Windows software, version 22, and will be analyzed in a simple descriptive way and through inferential tests to compare the results of both groups. The research is in line with the ethical precepts recommended in Resolution No. 466, of December 12, 2012, of the National Health Council, the data collection will start upon its approval by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.
