USE OF AUDIOVISUAL RESOURCE IN THE ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE AND REDUCTION OF THE LEVEL OF ANXIETY OF HOSPITALIZED PATIENTS NEWLY DIAGNOSED WITH HIV/AIDS: randomized clinical trial

SUMMARY:

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus represents a worldwide public health problem,  capable of developing Acquired Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome and causing serious clinical manifestations,  affecting physical and mental integrity. In this sense, patients newly diagnosed with the virus often develop strong anxiety and the audiovisual tool, in turn, can mitigate this process, contributing to expand the learning related to the characteristics of the virus, disease and treatment efficacy. In this perspective, the objective is to evaluate the efficacy of the use of audiovisual resources in the acquisition of knowledge and reduction of the level of anxiety of hospitalized patients newly diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus/ Acquired Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Therefore, the methodological plan of the study will be divided into three stages,1 being bibliographic survey through a Scoping Review, in order to identify the relevant elements in the composition of a video for the education of newly diagnosed patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Acquired Human ImmunodeficiencySyndrome ;2) construction and validation of content and video interface; 3) blind and controlled randomized clinical trial, with newly diagnosed patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Acquired Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome hospitalized in a reference hospital in natal infectious diseases,  Rio Grande do Norte. Regarding the third stage of the study, the sample will be divided into two groups, Control Group (CG) and Experimental Group (EG), which will receive the standard guidelines recommended by the institution, in which the Control Group will receive only the standard guidelines, and the Experimental Group will receive the standard guidelines and information of the audiovisual resource that will present information about the disease process, the characteristics of the virus, the forms of transmission and prevention, treatment efficacy and daily care. Toensure the randomization of the study participants, the www.randomizer.org website will be used, which will previously select the participants for each group by simple randomness and without influence from the researchers. Before data collection, the project will be analyzed by the Central Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. It aims to promote knowledge, enable the best experience of users in the face of diagnosis, through a tool that seeks to assist in the nursing care process.
