SUMMARY:

Regarding surgical procedures, myocardial revascularization is still the most used in the treatment of many coronary artery diseases. In the preoperative period, the patient must understand what will be done, as a way of reducing his anxiety and becoming a participant in his care. Thus, nursing guidance can be used for the health education of the patient and can rely on technological tools to facilitate communication and bring the reality of the patient closer. In this sense, this project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using an audiovisual resource in reducing the level of anxiety and health education of patients in preoperative myocardial revascularization. The specific objectives are: to verify the effectiveness of using an audiovisual resource for health education; verify how the anxiety level behaves before and after using an audiovisual resource and the standard guidelines in this audience; to compare the effect of health education done with the aid of an audiovisual resource with the standard guidelines in patients in the preoperative myocardial revascularization. It is a blind randomized controlled clinical trial, with a quantitative approach of the data that will be collected in the cardiology ward of the Onofre Lopes University Hospital of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, the sample will consist of 52 patients submitted coronary artery bypass graft surgery, divided into Control Group (CG) and Intervention Group (IG), in which the IG will receive the institution's standard guidelines and guidance with the audiovisual resource of an explanatory video and slides on the preparation of surgery and post-operative, while the CG will receive only the institution's standard guidelines. All these interventions will be carried out at the bedside with the curtains closed to ensure blinding. To certify randomization, this will be done by the website for the random drawing of patients. There will then be three researchers, one researcher will be in charge of applying the instrument to assess anxiety in all participants before the interventions, the main researcher will carry out the interventions in both groups, and a second researcher, without knowing which participant belongs to which group, will apply the instruments to everyone after an intervention. Two instruments will be used for data collection: an instrument to assess the level of anxiety, a State-mapped anxiety inventory, and an instrument for assessing knowledge. Also, the data will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Before data collection, the project will be appreciated by the Central Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. The study seeks to contribute to a better patient experience in the face of surgery and to assist as a tool for the process of caring for nurses in their orientations. The entire project will follow the ethical requirements of research with human beings.
