SUMMARY:

Outpatient nursing care for individuals with coronary artery disease and undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, lacks an assistance structure for self-management. Self-management of the risks and chronic symptoms of the disease by the individual and the achievement of healthy behaviors provide better results in the therapeutic process, such as mitigation of complications and the acquisition of well-being and quality of life. A model of nursing care from the perspective of self management offers a theoretical and guiding strategic structure of care for people with coronary artery disease and represents a contribution to nursing knowledge in secondary and tertiary prevention in health. Objective: To develop a model of nursing care for individuals undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty in an outpatient setting. Method: This is a methodological study with a qualitative approach to be carried out through the deductive-inductive logical reasoning process and based on the Betty Neuman Systems Model and the Theory of Individual and Family Self-Management. The Model will be developed in four moments. First: conceptual definitions, derived from the theoretical framework, configuring them as theoretical subsidies. Second: definition of two sources of information, called basic subsidies: 1) review of literature and guidelines; 2) empirical contextual. Third step: each basic grant will go through two stages: data collection and data content analysis. Fourth: Integration of theoretical, scientific and contextual-empirical subsidies, to form a theoretical basis, followed by interpretation and reflection for structuring the model. This research will be forwarded to the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Hospital Universitário Alcides Carneiro / Federal University of Campina Grande.
