RESUMO:

The teaching of diagnostic reasoning in nursing focused on the health of children and adolescents is very relevant for the formation of critical, reflective nurses with specific knowledge about these unique periods of the individual's life cycle. In this context, it is believed that realistic simulation is a positive teaching strategy and can bring exponential benefits to the training of future nurses. Thus, the present study aims to: analyze the effectiveness of an educational strategy involving realistic simulation in the teaching of diagnostic reasoning in nursing in child and adolescent health. And, as specific: to build an educational strategy involving the realistic simulation of the diagnostic reasoning in nursing in the health of children and adolescents; validate the content of case studies and realistic simulation scenarios; and measure the undergraduate student's diagnostic reasoning before and after the use of realistic simulation. This will be an experimental study, organized in three phases, namely: construction of realistic simulation scenarios, through books and scientific articles; content validation by 22 specialists with clinical and / or research experience on nursing diagnosis or child and adolescent health, which will be selected via the Lattes platform; and application of simulation as an educational strategy. In the last stage, the sample will consist of all students regularly enrolled in the theoretical and practical modules of the Comprehensive Health Care III component, at the Nursing Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Students will be submitted: pretest, traditional class, randomization, simulation and posttest. At randomization, they will be randomly distributed, half in the experimental group (intervention through realistic simulation) and the other half in the control group (standard intervention consisting of lectures). The inclusion criterion will be: be regularly enrolled in the discipline of Comprehensive Health Care III, during the data collection period. And as exclusion criteria: not participating in all phases of the research; and have attended some discipline on diagnostic reasoning in nursing in child and adolescent health in another higher education institution. Data will be coded and organized in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The research project will be appreciated by the Research Ethics Committee of the institution responsible, respecting the ethical aspects of research involving human beings. Experts and students participating in the study will sign the Informed Consent Form. Thus, it is expected that the present educational strategy will contribute to the training of more proactive, empowered and capable nurses to develop praxis-based child and adolescent health care.
