RESUMO:

The objective of this research is to evaluate the quality of postpartum hospital care in the state of Paraíba. This is a descriptive research, with a quantitative approach, which will be developed in two phases: 1) construction of a research instrument; 2) evaluation of the quality of puerperal care, performed in these hospital institutions, based on the three components of health care, structure, process and outcome proposed by Donabedian. For the construction of the measurement instrument, a documentary research will be carried out, of ecological type with quantitative approach, in order to identify the factors that are related to maternal deaths in the postpartum state of Paraíba. Data will be collected from the State Health Secretariat Information System Database and Mortality Information System (MIS) over the past ten years (2008-2018). An integrative literature review will also be conducted to list indicators of quality of puerperal care in hospitals for delivery. Then, an instrument will be built and validated to measure the quality of puerperal care provided by reference hospitals for childbirth in the state of Paraíba. Finally, the evaluation of the quality of puerperal care performed in these institutions based on the three components of health care, structure, process and outcome proposed by Donabedian. Postpartum interns in the joint accommodation of the reference maternity for puerperal follow-up, from sample calculation participated in the study. Data from the first study (documentary research) will be analyzed through coding, tabulation and data crossing, using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0 and univariate and bivariate analysis, based on the application of the Chi-square and Fischer Exact statisticstests, considering p <0.05. Data will be presented as tables, with relative and absolute percentage distributions. The second study (integrative literature review) will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented as tables. The third study (built and validated instrument) will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, using the Microsoft-Excel and SPSS 22.0 programs, using the Kappa index (K) and Content Validity Index (CVI), considering K ≥0.61 and CVI> 0.80 and lastly, to analyze the data from the last study (evaluation of the quality of puerperal care) a descriptive and inferential statistics will be used, in addition to the Chi-square, Fisher's exact test and Mann- Whitney for comparisons.The level of statistical significance established for the value of ρ will be <0.05. The project will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Obey the ethical foundations of Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council (NHC), that regulates research involving human beings nationwide. The subjects will sign the Free and Informed Consent Term (FICT). It is believed that conducting this research will be able to elucidate the incorporation of good practices in women's health care in the puerperium in the state of Paraíba, as well as the need to provide women and professionals with new possibilities for the puerperium within the humanized care model.
