RESUMO:

There is still a long way to go for the 2030 UNAIDS goals, which include reaching and establishing effective prevention measures. Young people are considered to be one of the most vulnerable groups that has gained prominence in the face of the global HIV / AIDS epidemic. As a refined methodology of health education, peer education has been delineated as a significant form of prevention and health promotion in adolescents. Aim: To verify the results of peer education in HIV / AIDS prevention in adolescents. Method: This is a systematic review. The outline of the method will be developed based on the guidelines defined by the Cochrane Handbook (2011) and The PRISMA Statement (PRISMA). The sample will consist of intervention studies about peer education as an educational strategy for HIV / AIDS prevention in adolescents. Inclusion criteria: studies with a specific focus on peer education in HIV / AIDS prevention in adolescents and studies with a case-control design, whose data had been evaluated and compared before and after the intervention. Time-series studies, case reports, studies involving adults and children, studies with secondary data, and those that do not use peer education as an intervention will be excluded. The survey will include the databases: PMC, Elsevier, Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus, Onefile, Lilacs, JBI in addition to the directories of theses and dissertations of CAPES for gray literature access. To construct the guiding question, the PICO strategy (Problem, Intervention, Control or Comparison, Outcomes) will be used to generate the question "What are the results of peer education in HIV / AIDS prevention in adolescents?" The search will use MeSH indexed descriptors: Peer Group; Peer Influence; Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome; Primary Prevention; Health education; Adolescent. For the selection of studies, the preliminary evaluation of the titles and abstracts verified in an initial search will be performed, which will be executed by two researchers, in an independent and blinded method, strictly corresponding to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and other preliminary aspects defined in the protocol of research. The data will be organized into a spreadsheet, built in Microsoft Office Excel and analyzed through descriptive statistics through the statistical package SPSS version 21.0 for Windows. The Kappa coefficient will be applied to verify the agreement between the two researchers for their respective ordinal evaluations of the same sample.
