RESUMO:

Noncompliance with tuberculosis treatment is one of the main problems for the control of the disease.  The strategies adopted so far are not considered effective enough to guarantee therapeutic success, which makes eminent new research on what barriers may still exist to achieve a better adherence to this therapy. The objective is to understand how the process of adherence to the treatment of tuberculosis occurs in Primary Health Care, based on the experience of adherent people and to construct a theoretical model explaining the process of adherence to the treatment of tuberculosis. It is an analytical, interpretative and theoretical research that will follow as a methodological reference the Straussian slope of the Grounded Theory (or Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados). The research scenario will be the twenty four Family Health Strategies of the municipality of Cajazeiras, Paraíba. The theoretical sample will be composed of people who had tuberculosis and completed the complete treatment, linked to the health units of said municipality, when there is no preliminary definition of the number of participants, since the quantitative is delimited according to the principle of theoretical saturation of the data. Inclusion criteria will be: completion of the complete TB treatment in 2018, being recognized as adherents to the treatment, and as exclusion criteria: patients who have been transferred from the municipality and finished the treatment in another locality. Data collection will be done using an in-depth interview, aided by an instrument consisting of two parts: the first one referring to sociodemographic data and the second to the guiding question regarding the research object. Initially will be carried out floating reading of the interviews to highlight the main ideas of the participants. They will be analyzed word by word and line by line in order to construct the categories and to codify the relation between them by means of open, axial and selective coding. NVivo® version 11 software will be used as a technological support to help organize the data. The analysis paradigm will consist of identifying the variety of conditions, actions / interactions and consequences associated with the phenomenon, which will form the basic structure of the theoretical-explanatory model. The theoretical model will be analyzed and validated by groups of researchers and research participants. The research will be based on the theoretical studies on adherence to the treatment of tuberculosis and on the assumptions of Symbolic Interactionism, applied to the context of the decision to adhere to the proposed treatment. The project will obey the ethical precepts of Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council with submission in the Brazil Platform. It is hoped that the construction of the theoretical model will advance the knowledge about this phenomenon so that it is possible to draw up policies and intervention strategies that attend to the specific reality of these people, so that in the medium and long term it is possible to obtain higher cure rates and abandonment of treatment, subsidizing paths to the practical reach of the goals of the Strategy for the End of Tuberculosis in Brazil. As a scientific contribution of the explanatory theoretical model, it is expected that it may subsidize actions of health professionals, especially nursing, based on concepts constructed from the elucidation of the object of study.
