Association of self-esteem, the use of alcohol, tobacco and other substances with quality of life of people with HIV / AIDS: perspectives in the nursing care process in mental health.

Since the first cases of HIV in the 1980s and the identification of the virus, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome has become a major public health problem in Brazil. Based on the assumption that sociodemographic aspects, self-esteem and adherence to alcohol and other substances can affect the quality of life of people with AIDS, the following questions arise: The impact evidenced by the chronicity of HIV infection, alcohol and other drugs use are accompanied in the quality of life of those living with AIDS? Do the determinants of social vulnerability imply worse quality of life? What factors interfere with the quality of life of people with AIDS? How to think about nursing care with a view to promoting the quality of life of these people? Thus, the present study presents the following hypotheses: H1 - There is an association of self-esteem, use of alcohol, tobacco and other substances with quality of life of people with HIV / AIDS accompanied by the Specialized Assistance Service, outlining perspectives for nursing care mental health. H0 - There is no association of self-esteem, alcohol, tobacco and other substances with quality of life of people with HIV / AIDS accompanied by the Specialized Care Service, outlining perspectives for nursing care in mental health. The general objective is to evaluate the quality of life, self-esteem and use of alcohol, tobacco and other substances by persons with AIDS accompanied by the Specialized Care Service, outlining perspectives for nursing care in mental health. The specific objectives are: To identify measures of quality of life, self-esteem and use of alcohol and other substances by people with AIDS; To establish relationships between quality of life, self-esteem and use of alcohol and other psychoactive substances (marijuana, cocaine, stimulants, sedatives, inhalants, hallucinogens and opiates) in people with AIDS; Identify the association between demographic variables, sex, age, marital status, occupation, schooling, religious beliefs, type of housing, family income, number of children, diagnosis, time of treatment, number of hospitalizations, measures of quality of life, self-esteem and use of alcohol, tobacco and other psychoactive substances; To draw perspectives for nursing care from aspects related to the quality of life and self-esteem of people with AIDS. This is a correlational analytical study, with a cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach for data treatment and analysis. The survey will involve 187 people with HIV / AIDS accompanied by the SAE located in the municipality of Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte, belonging to the Public Health Secretariat of the State of Rio Grande do Norte (SESAP / RN). As inclusion criteria were established: age greater than 18 years; residing in the municipality of Parnamirim / RN; have been followed for a minimum period of 6 months in the SAE; and, accept to participate in the study. In the process of data collection, four specific instruments will be used, namely: the questionnaire with the socio-demographic characterization of the sample of study participants; the instrument on health-related quality of life (HRQOL), SF 36; Rozemberg's self-esteem scale; and, questionnaire on alcohol use screening and other seven psychoactive substances - ASSIST. The data obtained will be exported to the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), version 15.0. Descriptive analyzes were carried out with absolute and relative frequencies, mean of the scores of the variables and inferential analysis at the crosses of the variables, with a significance level of p-value <0.05. Regarding the ethical aspects, we will respect the guidelines and norms that regulate the researches involving human beings, established by Resolution No. 466/2012 of the National Council of Health. Also, it is expected that, from the identification of the indicators to contribute to qualified nursing care for patients with HIV / AIDS.
