VALIDAÇÃO DE TECNOLOGIA ASSISTIVA PARA CEGOS: INSTRUMENTOS DE EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE SOBRE INFECÇÕES SEXUALMENTE TRANSMISSÍVEIS
Visually impaired persons. Health education. Sexually transmitted diseases. Self-help devices. Self Care
This is a descriptive, quantitative, and methodological development that intends to validate from Braille booklet and sound media on prevention and transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). In this research, the following guiding question was drawn: Are Braille booklets and sound media presented as valid technologies for health education and training on prevention and transmission of STI / AIDS for blind people? The study will be developed in the Center for Support to the Visual Impairment of Mossoró and the Institute of Education and Rehabilitation of Blind People of Rio Grande do Norte (IERC), through three stages: identification of blind people's knowledge about prevention and transmission of STI / AIDS; development of a Braille Primer and sound media about the research topic; and, validation of assistive technology (TA). In the first stage of the study, the population census of the blind people enrolled in the CADV will be carried out; on the validation of the Braille Primer and the sound media, non-probabilistic sampling will be adopted for convenience for construct and semantic analyzes; and, for the application / testing phase of TA, part of the validation process, population census of blind people enrolled in the CADV and that meet the inclusion criteria. Blind people with multiple disabilities will be excluded from the survey. The data collected from the questionnaires used in this study will be compiled in an electronic database; later, they will be processed and analyzed through the statistical program The SAS System 9.0; and presented in tables and tables. This research project will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee Involving Human Beings of the Federal University of Rio Grande in the North and only after a favorable opinion will be initiated the data collection. It is believed that the validation of assistive technologies could be an important tool for health education actions by health professionals, especially nurses; and, corroborate with greater access to STI / AIDS information, favoring the adoption of better health practices, as well as enabling blind people to better develop self-care.
