RESUMO:

The diagnosis of nursing constipation is prevalent in cancer patients, decreasing the quality of life of this clientele. The inference of this diagnosis, through sensitive and specific clinical indicators, allows quick and effective interventions to obtain results, for which the nurse is responsible. Thus, we aimed to analyze the accuracy of the clinical indicators of the diagnosis of nursing constipation in patients submitted to antineoplastic therapy. This is a cross-sectional, diagnostic accuracy study developed at the chemotherapy outpatient clinic of the Hospital Norteriograndense against Cancer. The population is composed of patients with constipation in antineoplastic therapy attended at the outpatient clinic of said hospital. The sample is 240 individuals. Data collection took place from February to September 2018. The patients signed the Informed Consent Term, and the confidentiality of the information collected was guaranteed. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) of the Institution responsible, under the number of opinions: 2,417,240 and CAAE: 80285917.6.0000.5293. To date, the results show that the majority of the patients are women (70%), married (60%), practicing religion (80%) and in anticancer therapy for at least four months. The most prevalent clinical indicators were: effort to evacuate, pain upon evacuation and hard and formed stools. Thus, it is expected that the present work contributes to the clinical practice of the nurse in the oncology sector, facilitating the inference of the diagnosis of constipation in the referred clientele.
