RESUMO:

Prenatal care is a moment of intense change in the body and mind of pregnant women who undergo several discoveries and learnings, which gives nurses the opportunity to take a holistic approach to their actions in the health care of these patients. Assessment in teaching in this area of nurses' knowledge and performance needs to be performed so that the factors that make teaching difficult are identified and solved in order to stimulate students to expand knowledge and skills in prenatal consultations. Thus, the present study was motivated by the perception that there are gaps in evaluative research in the educational field, related to nurses' training for low risk prenatal consultation. This research proposes to evaluate the knowledge and ability of undergraduate students in nursing for low-risk prenatal consultations. This is a cross-sectional, normative evaluation study with qualitative and quantitative data or mixed methods. It will be held at the Nursing Department of the Health Sciences Center of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), located at the Central Campus in Natal / RN, with approval from the Ethics and Research Committee of UFRN by number 2.698.375. The population will be composed of students enrolled in the 7th and 8th period, enrolled in the disciplines: Health Care III and Supervised Internship I: the nursing work process in basic health care. The data collection will be done in two moments through a questionnaire containing the variables related to low risk prenatal care and the second moment will be applied to the technique of the focal group. The data analysis will compare the two teaching / learning moments, related to the two periods of the course chosen for research, and the data will be analyzed based on the normative documents related to prenatal consultation. It is hoped that this study through the evaluation research will detect the skills and competences developed in the teaching / learning of undergraduate students in nursing as opposed to acting in the low-risk prenatal service in primary health care and that serves as a subsidy for decision making through possible inadequacies encountered.
