Analysis of the epidemiological situation of arboviruses dengue, zika and chikungunya in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
Arbovirus infections; Epidemiology; Health education.
Monitoring the epidemiological behavior of arboviruses is extremely relevant, since knowledge about the consequences of the simultaneous circulation of Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya viruses is still incipient. Understanding the regional context is mandatory for the establishment of important strategies to reduce the risk and vulnerability of individuals and communities, as well as the adaptation of public policies turned to local epidemiological peculiarities. Due to the need for investigations taking into account symptoms, etiologic agents and social and environmental factors that might be associated with epidemics, the present study aims to analyze the historical series, epidemiological profile and geographical distribution of Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika cases in Rio Grande do Norte. The study will be based on the analysis of time series on the geographical distribution and epidemiological profile of arboviruses in the state of Rio Grande do Norte from 2015 to 2017. The population will be comprised of all the confirmed cases of Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika reported in the SINAN during the aforementioned period, obtained through the notification formularies and investigation of the confirmed cases available at the Public Health Secretariat of the State of Rio Grande do Norte (SESAP-RN). For the data collection procedure, a form- type instrument will be used, divided into three parts: socioeconomic data, clinical and laboratory data, and clinical outcome. Data will be managed using frequencies, central tendency measures (mean, median, standard deviation), incidence rate and prevalence, temporal trend of cases and thematic maps, and other relevant tests. The results will be presented in tables and analyzed in light of the pertinent literature. Although the study does not directly involve human beings, it will follow all the precepts of Resolution Number. 466 of 2012 of the National Health Council and obtained a favorable opinion from the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (CEP-UFRN) under number 2,445,935, in addition to the Certificate of Presentation for Ethical Appreciation (CAAE): 80007217.0.0000.5537.
