RESUMO:

Nursing care for transgender persons is emerging, as it intervenes in relationships between individuals from groups with greater or lesser social power, expressed in hierarchies of gender cuts amidst social configurations that foster discriminatory processes in the supply, access and quality of health care. This study aims to: (1) understand the meanings attributed by transgender persons to nursing care in the course of the search and care in health services; and (2) to develop a theoretical model of nursing care for the trangender persons, based on the understanding of the meanings attributed in the course of the search, care and nursing care practices in health services. It is methodologically designed as an analytical, theoretical and interpretive research, following the methodological assumptions of Grounded Theory in Corbin and Strauss. This is a multicenter study, in which the research scenarios will be the Non-Governmental Organizations of Rights of Transgender Persons of two Brazilian capitals - Natal/RN and Florianópolis/SC. 243 transvestites and transsexuals will participate in the investigation and will form the first sample group, considering that data collection is sufficient when there is theoretical saturation, thus reaching theoretical sampling. Participants will meet the following eligibility criteria: prove age equal to or greater than eighteen years and have received some nursing care for a maximum of 6 months in any public or private health service. Transgenders that are not residing in loco and that associate during the period of data collection will be excluded. The collection will consist of an open-ended interview from a triggering questioning. Data analysis will succeed the floating reading to highlight the main ideas of the informants. It will be analyzed by word, line by line, to construct the categories and to code the relation between them - open, axial and selective codings. It is emphasized that the collection and analysis will be simultaneous. The technological support of NVivo^® software version 11 will be used. The analysis paradigm consists in identifying the variety of conditions, actions / interactions and consequences associated with the phenomenon, forming the basic structure of the theoretical-explanatory model. The theoretical model will be analyzed and validated by groups of researchers, research informants and non-participants transvestites and transsexuals selected by their experts in research, discussions or health practices to the transgender population in the country. Theoretically, the research will be based on studies on gender, nursing care, health of transgender people and the theoretical assumptions of Symbolic Interactionism, applied to the context of the relationships between nursing professionals and transgender users. The project will obey the ethical foundations of Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council with submission in the Brazil Platform as a multicenter project. It is hoped that the elaboration of a theoretical model strengthens the direction of nursing care actions based on concepts constructed from the elucidation of the phenomenon that emerges, being able to signal new possibilities for the nurses' performance in the health of transvestites and transsexuals; proposals for reformulations in the National Policy for Integral Health Care for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Persons and changes in the curricular structure of nursing education.
