RESUMO:

Attention to patient safety has been widely discussed throughout the world. As a result of the damages derived from the assistance processes provided, or from the hospital structure, it plays a relevant role in the development of efforts, in order to make the assistance safer to the patient. In this way, the role of the professional in the identification of factors that can affect patient safety is considered relevant, as well as in the evaluation of preventive measures to expose risks and damages related to health care. There are multiple responsibilities in the sectors of a hospital unit, and the priorities are usually focused on immediate procedures with the patient, while simple and easily accessible care goes unnoticed, such as skin care aimed at preventing Pressure Injury (LP). Such injuries, in addition to causing harm to patients and their families, are strong indicators of health care. In this sense, the institutional analysis is justified by allowing access to the contradictions and the possibilities of transformations of practices. Based on the above, the following question is raised: What are the nurse's practices related to the prevention of pressure injury in a University Hospital in the city of Natal / RN? The general objective of this research is to analyze the nurses' practices related to the prevention of pressure injury in a university hospital in the city of Natal / RN. It will be a descriptive, case-study, quantitative approach that presents a cross-sectional methodological design, coherently with the purpose of investigating, from the subjects involved, the intricacies of the construction of preventive care of pressure injuries in a teaching hospital in the city of Natal / RN. The population will be composed of all the professionals registered nurses in said hospital. The sample will be comprised of 44 Nursing Assistants, obtained after sample calculation. Data collection will be performed through a structured interview based on a questionnaire. The data obtained will be entered in a database of the SPSS program (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), version 20.0 for treatment of the results, having as a type of analysis the descriptive statistics, with absolute frequencies and percentages. Inferential statistical analysis will be performed. The research will be developed after approval of the Ethics and Research Committee of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes, respecting the norms of resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council regarding the ethical aspects of research involving human beings. It is expected with the present study, to contribute with subsidies for nurses to develop early management methods with the intention of preventing health problems in the hospital scope, such as Pressure Injury.
