Evaluation of safe nursing care in the use of vaccines in primary health care
Nursing. Patient safety. Vaccines. Health Assessment.
In health care, patient safety is a key requirement for quality of care. Recognition of the importance of safety in Primary Health Care services raises the need for studies on adverse events arising from medication errors, especially immunobiological drugs, frequently used in these settings. In this context, nurses have an essential role, being responsible for several activities in the vaccine room, in order to guarantee the potency and efficacy of these products, in addition to preserving their immunizing characteristics. Therefore, this study has as guiding question: How to evaluate safe nursing care in the use of vaccines? To answer this question, the objective is to evaluate nursing care in the use of vaccines in primary health care. It consists of a methodological research with a quantitative approach, divided into the following stages: 1) literature review - through national materials and international, ministerial manuals, laws, decrees, updated scientific articles, among others; 2) elaboration of a graphic protocol for the evaluation of nursing care in the use of vaccines in primary health care; 3) validation of content and appearance of the graphic protocol - which will involve the participation of judges with knowledge in the study theme, through the use of the Delphi technique, in questionnaire rounds with the completion of an electronic form provided by Google Docs until the items constituents of the protocol reach a consensus of 70% or more. The relevance analysis of these items will be done by the Content Validity Index; 4) Evaluation of vaccine rooms - will be based on the graphic protocol previously validated in its content and appearance, and will be used in the 13 Health Units of the Family of the Western Sanitary District of the city of Natal / RN / Brazil. The application of the protocol will be done in a face-to-face, by means of the technique of non-participant observation, by two evaluators, simultaneously. This process will occur to monitor the operation of the immunobiological and routine nursing professionals working in the selected sites. The analysis of data regarding the evaluation of vaccine rooms will be performed using the Kappa coefficient. All stages of the research will follow the ethical precepts of Resolution No. 466 of December 12, 2012. The study was submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and approved according to Consubstantiated Opinion No. 1,768,233, under Certificate of Presentation for Ethical Appraisal nº 59962316.8.0000.5537.
