RESUMO:

Objective to evaluate ocular dryness in adult patients in the immediate postoperative period. This is a quantitative, observational cross-sectional study. It will be performed in the months of May to August, at the Surgical Center and the Post-anesthetic Recovery Unit, at the Honofre Lopes University Hospital (HUOL). The population will be comprised of patients who are in the preoperative room for elective surgery, aged 18 years or over, Glasgow 15 and have no signs and symptoms of ocular resection (Schirmer test value greater than 10 Mm and Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) score from 0 to 12). Patients who present a life-threatening emergency during data collection will be excluded. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN, CAEE: 64881717.5.0000.5537 participants will be invited to participate in the study by the researcher and will sign the Informed Consent Term (TCLE). Training will be conducted with the team to collect data. Diagnostic nurses will be selected to observe the outcome of eye dryness or ED dry-eye risk on spreadsheets developed with collection data. The data will be organized and analyzed in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 22.0. The determinations of Resolution No. 466/2012 of the National Health Council of the Ministry of Health will be obeyed.
