RESUMO:

The objective of this study is understand the experience of parents about kangoroo mother care. Is an exploratory and descriptive research in a qualitative approach that will be developed in the School Maternity Januário Cicco - Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Twenty parents will be involved on this study. The number of participants may change when data saturation occur. We are going to analysis parents with age equal or greater than 18 years and must be experiencing the kangoroo mother care. Data collection will take between marchand august 2017. This data will be collected through a structured interview and a roadmap consisting of two parts: the first one will consist of socio-demographic issues in order to characterize the participants and second one will consist of a guiding question regarding the object of study, according to the method based on the Data Grounded Theory. The analysis of the results will be based on principles of Symbolic Interactionism (IS) and the discussion will be supported by the literature pertinent to the object of study. Therefore a preliminary investigation of the phenomenon was carried out based on an integrative review on the theme involving the father in the kangoroo mother care. The results showed that during the experience in the kangoroo mother care, the father expresses diverse feelings such as joy, fears and worries, as well as difficulties in performing the method with a premature child. Moreover it was verified that the health team has an unique role for the success of this Method for the humanized assistance to the premature newborn in the Canguru Method. The studies showhow is important aknowledgedeepening about the father who lives the kangoroo mother care, overcoming the obstacles encountered and the involvement of health professionals in the effectiveness of the method in order to minimize feelings such as doubts, fear, worries and strengthen the family bond. It is emphasized that the theme about the experience of parents on kangoroo mother care is still incipient in the databases consulted. The project will be submitted to the Ethics and Research Committee for consideration, in accordance with the ethical precepts of Resolution No. 466/12 of the HealthNational Council, concerning human research.
