The measurement of blood pressure is a routine procedure in the practice of nurses and their learning has been a concern for educational institutions, bearing in mind the failure of this practice occur due to deficit in knowledge. Also, the lack of evaluation culminates in commitment values, interfering on the patient’s clinical evaluation. Therefore, the study aims to analyze the knowledge and skills of nursing students at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte enrolled in different periods of the course as the measurement of blood pressure. Analytical, transversal and quantitative study held at the Nursing Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in Natal / Rio Grande do Norte. The population matched to 204 academics, and the sample was composed of 76 participants based on a list in alphabetical order of all the scholars of each period, which were listed the odd numbers to develop the research. The study was appreciated by CEP / HUOL (CAAE No 0002.0.294.000-10) with assent. The knowledge’s identification occurred by applying a structured questionnaire and validated with objective questions divided into: sociodemographic characteristics and professional/work experience and knowledge about the procedure. The verification of the ability occurred in simulated laboratory, judging proper or improper the items that make up the checklist validated regarding the procedure. Data were tabulated in Microsoft Excel® 2010 spreadsheet software and exported into statistical software program, carried out descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, in addition to verify the normality of the data, using the Shapiro-Wilk test for subsequent crossing of the data and inferential analysis. For descriptive analysis, relative and absolute frequency’s will be checked, maximum, minimum, average and standard deviation (SD) of the variables with statistical significance level of p <0.05. Thus, depending on the reference results, association and correlation tests will be chosen.
