RESUMO:

Fluid volume excess is prevalent in patients undergoing hemodialysis. This problem has negative repercussions on the health of individuals, increases hospitalizations, and consequently, increases public spending. Thus, the identification of risk factors for this problem is paramount to prevention, however, does not exist the diagnosis risk for fluid volume excess in NANDA International. Therefore, it is important in construction of this diagnosis, in a view to provide care aimed at prevention of this problem. In this context, the objective of this study is to construct and validate the nursing diagnosis risk for fluid volume excess in patients undergoing hemodialysis. It will be a methodological study, which will be developed in three stages, namely: construction of a nursing diagnosis, content analysis and clinical validation. In the first stage, it will be adopted the model proposed by Roy and integrative literature review to list attributes, clinical antecedents, conceptual and operational definitions and interrelationship between concepts identified. In the second stage, nine experts will judge through focus group, the adequacy of concepts previously created. In the third stage, a case-control study will be realized, in which the nursing diagnosis risk for fluid volume excess will be validated in 392 patients undergoing hemodialysis, in nephrology clinics located in Natal, Brazil. For data analysis, will be used descriptive and inferential statistics. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande of Norte, in opinion No. 1257908 and Presentation Certificate for Ethics Appreciation No. 49324015.0.0000.5537. Thus, it is believed that the study in question will contribute to a nursing attention directed to preventing excess fluid volume in patients undergoing hemodialysis, and improve taxonomy of NANDA International.
