RESUMO:

With the development on treatment and diagnostic methods, the survival time of patients with cancer has been increasing and the hospitalizations to treat the disease or for clinical support are becoming more frequent, which cause a rise in the risk exposures during the stay in the hospital. Considering the patient’s immunosuppression, being as a consequence of the disease or of the treatment and the danger of developing infections related to the Health Care, this study has as general purpose to verify the risk factors predominance of the nursing diagnosis infection risk and its associations for the infection development in hospitalized people with cancer. It is about a retrospective transversal research, developed in the Statistical and Medical File Service of Hospital Dr. Luiz Antonio, Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Handbooks of patients with 18 or more years, with cancer, both genders, staying in the nursing wards of Hospital Dr. Luiz Antonio between the years of 2013 and 2014 were analyzed, for which have shown infection related to the Health Care during the hospitalization time. After the sample calculation, 112 handbooks were estimated. The data gathering was made between November 2015 to April 2016. To subsidize the gathering two instruments previously built were used, i.e.: Health and sociodemographic form and another containing the risk factors for infection. The data will be treated and analyzed using appropriate statistical tests for each variable. The present study was approved by the Ethical Research committee of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte and by the Ethical and Research committee of Liga Norte Riograndense against cancer with CAAE number 48374815.3.3001.5293. All the stages of the present investigation were made according to the ethical instructions of the National Health Council’s current legislation.
