RESUMO:

The evolution of science and the changes occurring in all segments of life in societies bring the need to think and rethink attitudes, values, and practices. In this sense, as the structure and social organization, the school context shall be interfered with this process, intensifying organizational and structural changes, and the pursuit of teaching and learning strategies that addresses the needs of this context. This is not different in Nursing, identifying an increasing adoption of mechanisms for meaningful learning. In this perspective, the study aims to analyze the effectiveness of teaching and learning strategies in the acquisition of skills and abilities of nursing students for the teaching of Primary Health Care topics. This study is justified by the importance of the integration and analysis of methodological procedures that are used in health and nursing training areas. It also enables the improvements in the training process. It is an exploratory research, with the quantitative and qualitative approach, using the pre-test and post-test experimental design. The research will be developed at the Nursing Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), with Nursing undergraduate students. The sample will be composed of 80 subjects, divided into two groups: experimental and control. The division of these subjects will be through statistical analysis and equal distribution of the following variables: gender, age, Academic Performance Index, professional experience in Primary Health Care area and diagnosis of the preferred representational system, ensuring homogeneous groups. For the control group, the following sequence is performed: measuring instrument application of prior knowledge on the themes to be worked in the course of Primary Health Care topics, conducting lecture, skills training, measurement of knowledge after course, evaluation of proposed activities in the course, and measurement of knowledge acquired in 30 and 60 days after the course. In the experimental group, the following sequence is performed: measuring instrument application of prior knowledge on the themes to be worked in the course of Primary Health Care topics, conducting lecture, skills training, experience in simulations, measurement of knowledge acquired after the course, evaluation of proposed activities in the course, and measurement of knowledge acquired in 30 and 60 days after the course. The collected data will be organized into an electronic database by spreadsheets subdivided into thematic groups. After this process, the data will be analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, presented in the form of tables, charts, and graphs, as well as speeches fragments clippings. Quantitative data will be processed in SPSS version 22.0 Statistics®. The qualitative data will be analyzed using the Collective Subject Discourse method.
