RESUMO:

Patients in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at high risk for the development of dry eye, because they are predisposed to lose their natural mechanisms of eye protection because they have serious clinical conditions requiring mechanical ventilation and sedation as methods to ensure the maintenance of life. Therefore, basic nursing cares, such as the eye, are deferred over the actions of greater complexity, which predisposes the patient to the risk of serious injuries that are initiated by dry eye. In this regard, in line with the global action plan on eye health 2014-2019 of the World Health Organization, aims to evaluate the Nursing Diagnosis (ND) Dry Eye Risk NANDA-International in ICU patients. This is a cross-sectional study to be conducted in adult ICU of the the Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes. The final sample consists of 206 patients. For data collection will be used an instrument that contains variables related to socio-demographic data, clinical and risk factors in ND the study. The inference as to the diagnosis of the patients presence will be performed by a pair of diagnosticians nurses with experience in diagnostic judgment and ICU. All data collected will be organized and stored in a database built in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0. Kappa coefficient is used to describe and test the degree of agreement in the classification of diagnosticians nurses. For descriptive analysis will be considered the frequency, distribution center measures and their variabilities. To compare means, or Student's t test for independent samples will be applied. In the case of asymmetry, the Mann-Whitney test is used. For associative measures will be used the chi-square test of Pearson and when the expected frequencies are less than five will apply the Fisher test. The magnitude of the association will be verified by the prevalence ratio. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and is funded by the National Scientific and Technological Development Council - CNPq, process n ° 444290 / 2014-1.
