Development and physicochemical characterization of solid
dispersions of triterpenic mixture α, β amyrin
α, β amyrin, pentacyclic triterpenes, solid dispersions, hydrophilic 58 polymers, physicochemical characterization.
α, β amyrin is a natural mixture of pentacyclic triterpenes and has a large biological activity, such as anti-inflamatory, and are isolated from the Burseraceae family species, in which Protium heptaphyllum specie is the most commonly found in the Brazilian Amazon. The present work aimed the development of solid dispersions (SD) of natural mixture α, β amyrin, which presents anti-inflammatory activity, with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-K30), polyethyleneglycol (PEG-6000) and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) by kneading (KND) and rotaryevaporator (RE) methods. Physicochemical characterization was realized to verify if occurred interaction between ABAM and hydrophilic polymers, through of Fourier transform infrared, scanning electronic microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. Physicochemical characterization results indicate the SD are capable of promoting change in the physicochemical characteristics of ABAM, that was confirmed changes in the crystallinity of the sample by the technique of XRD and DSC and the SEM showed the change of morphology due to the reduction of crystallinity. TG techniques showed greater thermal protection than ABAM conferred by polymers and FTIR indicated the formation of molecular dispersion. In conclusion, the present show the potentiality of SD as an efficient tool for improve stability and promote changes in physicochemical properties of the ABAM.
