SUMMARY:

The current work assumes by scope to analyze the Pilgrimage of the Holy Cross Cauldron of the Desert, Ceará, and the factors that took to a change in the Catholic Church towards the discourses and actions in popular religiosity. In addition to na analysis regarding the Pilgrimages of the Holy Cross Cauldron of the Desert as a place where the rural class exposes its conquests, necessites, and does and discusses the agrarian space in which They live and their troubles. Therefore, procedures were used, such as: informal conversations, particpant observation, photographic records, file researches and others. The theoretical dialoguer were in the field of Cutural History from the historian Roger Chartier (1990) and o concept of representation worked by the same author.
