HEALTH PROMOTION IN THE PREVENTION OF SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS IN ADOLESCENCE

Introduction: This study focuses on Health Promotion for adolescents through educational activities to prevent Sexually Transmitted Infections. Health Promotion is a process of ‘’empowering’’ the population to improve the quality of life in the process of health and illness. At the school level, adolescent health is a challenge, with the issue of preventing Sexually Transmitted Infections specifically emerging in addition to condom distribution and early diagnosis actions, but rather using health education to stimulate reflection on the prevention of risk behaviors, considering the social determinants of health. For Health Promotion, from this perspective, integration between the health and education sectors is necessary, reinforcing the concept of health beyond the treatment of diseases and injuries, a challenge in which nursing plays an important role within the multidisciplinary team due to its history insertion in health education actions. Objective: To develop an educational intervention project for the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections in the Promotion of Health among adolescents in a federal educational institution. Methodology: Descriptive-exploratory study with a qualitative approach, using interviews as a data collection technique, guided by a semi-structured script of questions. The research location will be a basic, technical and technological education school at a federal university in northeastern Brazil. Research participants will be high school students over 18 years of age and residents of the educational institution. The interviews will be recorded and later transcribed, and organized to carry out content analysis, according to Bardin, supporting the construction of the social technology of this research, which concerns educational action for Health Promotion in adolescence. The study is justified by collaborating with the global effort to end communicable and infectious diseases by 2023, as established in the World Health Organization's Sustainable Development Goals, specifically goal number 3 - health and well-being. Also noteworthy is its inclusion in the School Health Program, contributing to the construction of healthy lifestyles and the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections in adolescence through work on the topic of sexuality, which is often considered taboo in Society, therefore helping to demystify the content.
