SUMMARY:

Introduction: Breast milk is considered the best food for newborns and infants. The WHO recommendation is exclusive breastfeeding until the 6th month of life and complemented with other feedings until the age of two or more. In addition to nutrition, breastfeeding is linked to bonding and countless benefits for the baby, mother, family and society. However, it is important to highlight that, sometimes, the newborn is separated from his mother, whether due to prematurity or another pathology that requires hospitalization in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In this way, Human Milk Banks are responsible for assistance activities, as well as processing, quality control and distribution of human milk to newborns in the NICU. However, studies show a significant loss of donated human milk due to existing non-conformities, such as dirt, high acidity, non-conforming packaging and contamination by total coliforms. Therefore, strategies are needed to improve the quality of donated human milk. Objective: Develop an educational digital game that contributes to the quality of donated human milk. Methodology: This is a methodological study, with a quantitative approach, based on Pasquali's Psychometrics model, according to the following steps: construction of an instrument (theoretical procedures), opinion of judges or experts on the subject (empirical or experimental procedures) and application of statistical tests (analytical procedures). Participants will be informed about the research objectives and the peculiarities of their participation in the study, taking into account ethical precepts and will sign the Free and Informed Consent Form (TCLE).

It is believed that the construction of a digital game will provide human milk donors with information about good practices in the milking process so that there is better use. Considering the benefits of breast milk in the short and long term, especially in the neonatal ICU, the LHP will contribute to the recovery of newborns, reducing hospitalization time and, consequently, hospital costs for clients and companions.
