SUMMARY:

The process of human aging results in losses in the biological, psychological, functional, and social domains, rendering the elderly vulnerable to diseases and health issues, with a direct impact on their quality of life. In this context, Integrative and Complementary Health Practices emerge as a promising therapeutic approach. Within the realm of possibilities for supporting the health of the elderly, the practice of auriculotherapy stands out, which is a modality of Chinese Traditional  Medicine that aims to regulate the psychophysiological aspects of the individual by stimulating energy points on the auricular pavilion. It shows promising prospects for reducing chronic pain and improving mental health. The integration of auriculotherapy into Primary Health Care represents an opportunity to strengthen health promotion and self-care among the elderly, especially those who use multiple medications over an extended period. This study aims to construct and validate a Standard Operating Procedure in auriculotherapy to standardize and optimize the care provided to the elderly in primary care. This is a methodological study with a quantitative approach, grounded in Pasquali's Psychometrics model. The development of the instrument encompasses three distinct stages: in the theoretical phase, an integrative review and a focus group will be conducted to build the domains and items of the instrument. In the empirical phase, items will undergo a theoretical analysis through content and appearance analysis, with the participation of experts in auriculotherapy and elderly health. Finally, in the analytical phase, data obtained will be analyzed using the Content Validity Index and Kappa's Concordance Coefficient. This study will adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines for research involving human subjects, obtaining approval from the Research Ethics Committee/UFRN. It is anticipated that the technological tool resulting from this work will guide healthcare professionals in primary care, establishing care standards, ensuring safe professional practices, promoting the health of the elderly, optimizing costs, and ensuring the continuity of care.
