SUMMARY:

The nursing process comprises the dynamics of systematized and interrelated actions aimed at assisting human beings. Through the development and application of its phases, it is possible to develop nursing care in order to provide patient safety. The objective is to build, validate and adapt content of the nursing process for the electronic medical record of a cardiology intensive care unit. This is methodological development research, with a quantitative approach, which had the Design Science Research as a methodological reference, being operationalized through five steps. The first is related to awareness, defined in this study as the lack of steps in the nursing process in the electronic medical record of a cardiology intensive care unit. The second will comprise the suggestion, which will be carried out through a scope review in order to build the items and domains of the phases of the nursing process for the care of patients hospitalized in a cardiology intensive care unit. In the third step, development, the content constructed will be adapted to the electronic medical record, with the collaboration of specialists in the area of information technology at the studied hospital. In the fourth step, the validation of the content and appearance of the stages of the nursing process already adapted to the electronic medical record will be carried out with twelve nurses experienced in assisting critically ill patients or in the nursing process. Finally, the conclusion will be made through the dissemination of said technology to the nursing staff of the studied unit. The database will be built in Microsoft Excel, version 2022, using simple frequency and percentage values expressed in tables. For the application of statistical tests, the Free Software R, version 4.2.0 will be used. The analysis of data referring to the validation stage is based on the Content Validity Index (CVI) and the Kappa coefficient of agreement (k). The research will begin after approval by the Research Ethics Committee. It is expected that the use of the technological product that will be built, validated and adapted will contribute to the optimization of nursing care, as well as favoring an effective articulation between the multidisciplinary team and adequate support for patients suffering from cardiac pathologies hospitalized in the unit of studied intensive care.
