Affordances present at the home environment for motor development of children with microcephaly.

Introduction: Microcephaly is a congenital malformation in which the brain does not develop properly, so the cephalic perimeter is less than two standard deviations or more than the expected mean for age and sex. It is accompanied by motor and cognitive alterations that vary according to the degree of cerebral involvement. Recent studies have indicated that family environment have a strong influence on child´s development. Objective: the aim of this study is to evaluate the quantity and quality of the affordances present at the home environment for motor development of children with microcephaly and its correlation with their cognitive performance. Method: The present study will be a quantitative, cross-sectional approach. The sample will be composed of families with children with microcephaly, between 24 and 42 months old, who were invited to participate in the study through active search.
